Wire EDM, Laser Cutting & Precision Grinding — In-House
Beyond turning and milling, Tai Phat runs wire EDM, sheet laser cutting and precision grinding under one roof. Keeping these in-house shortens lead time and keeps quality control in our hands — parts don't leave the building between operations, so there's no waiting on a third party and no handling damage in transit.
Precision Grinding
Surface grinding (flat faces, plates and die/fixture components) and centreless grinding (round shafts, guide pins, piston rods and dowel pins up to Ø40 mm). This is how we take sealing and bearing surfaces below Ra 0.4 (to Ra 0.2 on suitable parts) and hold high roundness — the finish and form that turned surfaces alone can't reach.
Flat work runs on our Okamoto ACC-52DX surface grinder — a 500 × 200 mm table with a magnetic chuck, and a maximum workpiece of 200 kg including the chuck.
Round parts go through our Palmary PC-12S centreless grinder, which grinds the outside diameter across a Ø1–40 mm range without centres — best suited to straight round parts rather than stepped or shouldered shafts.
Ra 0.8 by machining, to Ra 0.4 through precision grinding: the finer figures come from this grinding step, and they apply to the flat features and straight round parts these two machines actually suit.
Internal-bore and between-centres cylindrical grinding, deep-bore honing and hard-chrome plating remain coordinated through partners.

Wire EDM (Molybdenum Wire-Cut)
Wire-cut EDM for profiles, slots, and hardened-material features that are difficult to mill — useful on tool steels (SKD11, SKD61) after heat treatment, where cutting force would be a problem. Our wire EDM (Baoma BM500) is the molybdenum fast-wire type: cost-effective and well suited to tooling, fixture details and general profile cutting.
For ultra-tight tolerance or mirror-finish EDM work (brass-wire, low-speed class) we'll say so and coordinate it.

Sheet Laser Cutting (Fibre Laser, 2 kW)
In-house fibre laser cutting (Bodor A3, 2 kW) for flat parts, blanks, brackets and fixture plates — quick turnaround on 2D profiles without waiting on an outside cutter.
Reliable quality-cut thickness: carbon steel to ~12 mm, stainless steel to ~6 mm (nitrogen-assisted for clean, oxide-free edges), aluminium to ~5 mm, brass/copper to ~3 mm. Send your DXF and we'll confirm cut quality and speed for your material and thickness.

Why In-House Matters
- Shorter, more predictable lead times — fewer external hand-offs.
- Quality controlled by us end to end, inspected in the same shop that machined the part.
- One point of contact and one quote covering machining + these processes.
Quality Control
Parts from all three processes are inspected in-house (CMM, vision, surface roughness) the same way as turned and milled parts. First-article and drawing-flagged features verified on the Accretech CMM.
