Materials We Machine
These are the materials we run regularly. Each page covers typical grades, what the material is good for, what it costs you in machining time, and what we watch for.
| Material | Grades we run | Typical uses |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminium | A6061-T6 (most common) · A7075-T6 (higher strength) · A5052-H32 (forming/bending) | Jigs & fixtures, electronics housings, automation components needing low weight and low distortion |
| Stainless Steel | 304 and 316/316L (the two we run most) · 303 and 420 less often, on request | Fluid and vacuum parts, shafts, corrosion-exposed parts |
| Carbon & Engineering Steels | S45C/C45 (structural) · SCM440/42CrMo4 (through-hardened) · SKD11/SKD61 (tool/fixture steel) | Drive shafts, gears, load-bearing fixtures, parts requiring heat treatment to high hardness |
| Brass | C3604 (free-cutting brass) · C2680 (brass sheet) | Bushings, connectors, electrical contact valves, high-speed turned parts |
| Copper | C1100 (tough-pitch copper, ≈ C11000 / Cu-ETP) | Conductive and heat-transfer parts, machined copper housings (incl. silver-plated after machining) |
| Titanium | Ti-6Al-4V / Grade 5 (most common) · Grade 2 (commercially pure) | Heat- and chemical-resistant parts, high-wear workholding components |
| PEEK | PEEK-5600G (unfilled) · PEEK GF30 (30% glass-fibre reinforced) | Insulating parts, cleanroom components, temperature/chemical-resistant inspection fixtures |
